We Change Lives...
by the Word of God
See What the Lord has done!
2018 vs 2023 (Hallelujah!)

This is a 2023 email from the now FREE Minister Charles Amos. Even in the darkest places God is with you!! Congrats on the new found freedom Min. Amos! Praying for an easy and speedy transition back into everyday life. Minister Charles Amos believes not only in the work of the ministry, but in the power of prayer. To be able to witness this type of transformation in one's life makes it all worth while, looking unto Jesus whom is the author & the finisher of his faith. May God continue to bless you in miraculous ways!
"God has really been good to me. I can't believe that a year has passed so quickly. After being in a place where time basically stood still it is encouraging to see how fast it really moves. To give an update, I am no longer in Angola with a life without parole sentence. I am now free after 28 years of incarceration. Won't God do it! Yes God blessed me double fold. At first I received a commutation from the Governor, which is rare in Louisiana. That commutation changed my sentence from life without parole to 99 years with parole eligibility after serving 30 years. At the time I was only incarcerated 27 years, so I had to wait three more years until I was eligible for parole. I was alright with that because there were many men who wish that they no longer had a life sentence and I was one of them. God, however, had other plans. He moved upon some friends of mine's heart to get them to petition the district attorney's office in New Orleans to see about getting me a time reduction. I had just received a time reduction from the Governor and was unsure if the district attorney would give me another one. Despite my uncertainty, God moved on my behalf, and the district attorney reduced my sentence and gave me a 28 years sentence credit for time served. That meant that I would not be on parole for the rest of my life. God really showed out for me by giving me a double blessing. I am now free working for a non-profit called Voice Of The Experienced (VOTE) that passes legislation in reference to criminal justice and voting rights. I am still in the fight in bringing awareness to the harsh sentences many people have in Louisiana. Like always please pray that we are successful in this fight.

Sincerely,
Charles Amos"

"The spirit of the Lord God is upon me, Because the Lord has anointed Me to preach good tiding to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captive, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound." Isaiah 61:1

Just a snippet of a heartfelt letter from Angola State Prison - Death Row Offender, Jeremiah M. Which met while ministering to the men whom have been sentenced to the death penalty. He went on to tell his life story, family history and how he was so grateful for Carl praying with him. He says usually when other "church groups" comes in, it's like they are on "display." His faith even now has grown stronger in the Lord and believe daily for a miracle. The hardest part about ministering on Death Row, was trying to encourage one to have hope, when it's seems like all hope is gone. Angola by far was one of the most touching prison visits thus far. Sitting on 18,000 acres, housing 6,400 inmates, 99 or death row, but the good news is there are 28 churches. God is available to all who will receive him.

"Just a short note to say Thank You for your love & support. You don't know how much it means to me to have someone to write to who will actually respond. I have 3 college classes this semester!! Also God did open a door for me to go to speak to the 1st time offenders at the Jester 1 Unit. As of now I am suppose to return every 4th Friday of each month. I really enjoyed myself & having the chance to pour into the youngsters. At-Risk Youth Outreach is a passion for me...
Much Love, AY

This is a letter received shortly after a visit to the Carol Young Unit. She's now been in prison 22 years & has no family support. She appeared to be overwhelmed with depression and a fellow offender asked us to pray for her because she was worried for her. Though hopeless & weary of her situation, this offender was encouraged after having heard the Word of God & by taking the time to pray with her. She openly admitted she had planned to commit suicide that night... But God! There is hope, there is help, there is prison ministry.

Disclosure:
The above are actually testimonies of duly noted offenders which Bread of Life Prison Ministry has been given full permission for non-profit publicity use and evangelistic outreach.
